This has been one of the most unusual summers! Almost everyday had at least one drop of rain! My neighbors, who take meticulous care of their yard, could have baled hay by the time they were able to mow!

Of course, this slows construction down (at least anything outdoors), but we noticed a strange trend. With so many rainy days, our customers began choosing indoor projects and left the wet outdoors for later.

In general, here in the Chattanooga area, new construction that begins in the falls flows smoother. Here is why:

Less rain in the forecast means that digging a basement and framing can move quickly and nearly seamlessly.

As the cold sets in, the indoor work begins and many times that is the slow season for subs like plumbers and electricians. This means you can schedule them easier and sometimes negotiate a better price (a spoonful of hunger helps the price go down!).

One spring comes and the world thaws back out, it is a perfect time to finish grade and landscape.

Honestly, it is rare that everything falls into place like that, but when it does, it is sweet for the contractor and homeowner.

(I took this picture in my backyard on Sunday. I am amazed that leaves are turning colors!)
